20 partner universities outside the EU
In addition to ERASMUS partnerships, HTW Berlin cooperates with around 20 partner universities worldwide. An exchange semester at these universities can mean a high level of financial costs and organisational effort. However, the university’s existing contacts can be used to simplify the application procedure. In some cases the tuition fees are a little lower or can be waived. You are also free to apply for a semester abroad at a university that is not a partner university of HTW Berlin. You will need to use your own initiative for this. When researching options, please observe any special admission requirements specified by the individual universities with regard to:
- Language requirements
- Payment of tuition fees
- Higher living costs
Recognised language tests
HTW Berlin offers preparatory courses for the following internationally recognised language tests:
- TOEIC: Course comprising 1×2 weekly study hours at advanced level 1; for students who want to study abroad in a European country. At HTW Berlin the test is accredited by the International Office as fulfilling the language requirement for admission into the funding programme for financing studies abroad in European countries.
- TOEFL: Course comprising 4 weekly study hours at advanced level 1; for students who want to study in the USA, Canada or Japan.
- IELTS: Course comprising 4 weekly study hours at advanced level 1; for students who want to study in Australia, Great Britain or Ireland.
- TORFL: Courses comprising 4 weekly study hours at various levels depending on the chosen certificate level, every semester.
The examinations for TOEFL and IELTS are conducted by external institutions outside of the university.
