Applying for an apartment in one of our student dormitory

During the application process you have the option to apply for one our dormitory rooms. Please note that we only have limited contingent of dormitory places we cannot guarantee that all applicants will be allocated a room. However, in the past almost all dormitory applications have been successful. In case your application for a room should be unsuccessful, we will notify you around 2 1/2 months before the Welcome Meeting so you will still have enough time to find accommodation on the regular housing market. Please note that the allocation of apartments is random and it is not possible for us to take special preferences into account. e.g. with regards to the location of the dormitory or the type of apartment. We only offer single rooms at the Victor Jara dormitory which acommodate one person only and are not suitable for couples.

So if you decide to apply for a dormitory room during your application on Mobility Online, please make sure that you are ok with the dormitory listed below.

Please note that that it is not possible to apply directly to the dormitory but only during the application process on the Mobility Online platform.

This dormitory is located less than 30 min. by public transport/bicycle from our Treskowallee Campus (Business Faculty) and around 45 minutes from our Wilhelminenhof Campus (all other faculties).

Almost all rooms encompass 18 m² but a couple of rooms are bigger than that, which will also reflect in the rent which ranges from 302 to 357 EUR depending on size. A one-off deposit of 1 1/2 times the monthly rent needs to be paid (by credit card or bank transfer) alongside the first month's rent before the arrival and will be refunded after moving out. The minimum rental period is 6 months.

You can find more information regarding this dormitory here. However please note that the fully furnished "Apartment for one person" is the only option available to our exchange students and that it is not possible to apply directly to the dormitory but only during the application process on the Mobility Online platform.

Student dorm facilities

All single apartments have their own kitchen and bathroom. The rooms are equipped with a closet, book shelf, bed, desk and a kitchen unit with a stove and shelves.

However, you will need to buy blankets, pillows, bedding, dishes and cutlery yourself or bring them with you.

Please note that it is not possible to send mail or shipments to the dormitory before you have moved in.

In Germany it is mandatory to pay the broadcasting fee if you live in an own apartment and not with your parents. More information on this licence fee and how to apply for an exemption can be found here:
