The Impact of Psychological Occupational Strains on Engineering Manager's Decision-Making
Prof. Dr. Bruce M. Wood, Glasgow Caedonian University; Prof. Dr. Sören Dressler, HTW Berlin
An extensive literature review on the topic of physical and psychological strain experienced by engineering managers revealed a significant gap in understanding the impact of occupational strain on engineering managers’ decision making. Above all, occupational specific job strains are not sufficiently investigated. This thesis demonstrates a theoretical and practical linkage between the capability to handle information and the influence of occupational strains on engineering managers. Based on a mixed method approach quantitative as well as qualitative data were used to identify relevant strains for engineering managers and to investigate their impact on their decision making.
