- Thematic sessions on ethical guidelines, joint degrees, syllabus and course standardization, and the upcoming virtual campus MyAI University
- World Café workshops covering micro-credentials, self-paced certificate courses, Open Educational Resources (OERs), and innovative forms of student mobility
Key Findings of the Workshops and World Cafés
Workshops
Ethical Guidelines
Led by Prof. Dr. Alexandra Reichenbach (HHN) and Dr. Fabrizio Fornara (SUPSI), this workshop identified key challenges in developing ethical standards for AI in education. Central themes included AI literacy, its impact on learning and academic integrity, data protection, market concentration among large AI providers, and environmental sustainability.
Syllabus and Course Description Standards
Moderated by Prof. Dr. Carsten Lanquillon (HHN) and Angela Weißköppel (HTW Berlin), the session revealed that current course description systems often fail to support either compliance or learning. Participants emphasized the need to transform static course metadata into dynamic, learner-centered information systems that can be processed by AI tools—supporting student decision-making, reducing administrative workload, and aligning with international metadata standards.
Joint Degrees and Double Degrees
The workshop by Prof. Dr. Susanne Wilpers (HHN) and Swen Seebach (CEU UAO) clarified the differences between joint and double degree programmes and gathered information about existing programmes across EUonAIR partner universities. It also outlined the institutional frameworks and structures required to successfully establish and implement such programmes within the alliance.
World Café Discussions
Mobility Goal – 50% Student Participation:
Expanding international experiences requires combining physical and virtual mobility. The group emphasized the need for a shared framework to define and track virtual mobility across the alliance.
Micro-Credentials:
Micro-credentials, as flexible, short-term certifications, offer new opportunities for personalized and lifelong learning. The discussion focused on developing micro-credential topics within EUonAIR that go beyond traditional curricula, ensuring quality and comparability across member universities.
Open Educational Resources (OER)
The workshop on OER focused on developing a clear framework for creating, sharing, and maintaining high-quality digital teaching materials within the alliance. Key discussions addressed licensing, quality assurance, content types, and intellectual property protection. Next steps include defining upload templates, establishing licensing guidelines, and preparing a shared concept paper outlining standards and sustainable practices for OERs across EUonAIR.
A big thank you to all speakers, moderators, and participants for your energy, ideas, and collaboration!
