Overview of overall grades (grade transcript)

  • Must have a current issue date.
  • Confirmed by the student services management team or the examination administration of your university with stamp and signature.
  • Contains all study and examination achievements (passed, failed and registered examinations).
  • If necessary, the intermediate diploma certificate must also be submitted if it is not already shown as passed in the grade transcript.

Important information:

  • Individual performance records (“certificates of achievement”) are not sufficient.
  • Any outstanding examination achievements or those registered at the time of application must be submitted immediately.
  • If no coursework has been completed or registered, a written confirmation from the examination administration with stamp and signature must be enclosed.

Proof of attendance in the current semester

  • This is required for every degree programme in which you have been enrolled at a German university.
  • This information is usually included in the overall grade overview. If not, it can be proven by a current certificate of enrolment or exmatriculation with the semester of study indicated on the respective document.

Please note: In Germany, periods of study are counted in two categories:

  • Subject-related semesters: all semesters completed in a specific degree programme (excluding sabbatical semesters)
  • University semesters: all semesters in which you were enrolled at a German university, including sabbatical semesters

Brief descriptions of the curricula content

  • For each subject listed in the overall grade overview (regardless of passing or registration).
  • The descriptions can come from official sources such as university websites, course catalogues, lecture notes or module handbooks.
  • Content descriptions drafted by applicants personally will only be accepted in justified exceptional cases. In this case, a statement from the university explaining why no official descriptions can be submitted must be enclosed.
  • Please submit only the relevant module descriptions; links or complete module handbooks will not be considered.

Proof of weekly study hours or credit points

This information can usually be found in the module descriptions, in the curriculum of the degree programme or in the overall grade overview. If not available, please also submit a tabular overview.

Proof of all previous periods of study

Usually included in the respective certificate of exmatriculation. Alternatively, proof can be provided in the form of a separate study period or study progress certificate issued by the university.
