Studienkolleg (university preparatory course)
A preparatory course (Studienkolleg) supports international applicants seeking to study at a German university if their school-leaving certificate from their home country is not sufficient for direct university admission in Germany. HTW Berlin offers the preparatory course in the fields of Technology (T-course) and Business (B-course) in co-operation with TU Berlin.
Itinerary
- The preparatory course lasts one year (two semesters of full-time teaching).
- This is followed by the assessment test, which includes a subject-specific and a language test (German at DSH 2 level). The degree programme can only be commenced after passing the examination.
- The T-course only qualifies you to study engineering degree programmes, while the B-course qualifies you to study economics degree programmes at HTW Berlin.
Application
- Applications for the preparatory course are made exclusively via uni-assist.
- Application deadlines: 30 November (for the summer semester) and 30 June (for the winter semester)
- When completing the application, it is essential to enter a degree programme actually offered at HTW Berlin under the chosen degree programme, not a course name.
Required documents
- School and university certificates from your home country, e.g. school leaving certificate, university entrance examination, transcript of grades for academic achievements
- APS certificate, if you come from India , China or Vietnam
- Certificate of a German language course/completion of basic level B2, even if you want to apply for an English-language degree programme later, as the language of instruction at the preparatory course is German.
