Table of contents

Admission requirements

  • With German qualifications: you are currently completing the final semester of your Bachelor’s programme and have already registered for your final thesis.
  • With overseas qualifications: you have already completed your Bachelor’s degree.
  • If your chosen Master’s programme requires a first academic degree with 210 ECTS, but you only have a degree with 180 ECTS, there are two options available to you:
    • Professional experience gained after the first academic degree and/or study-specific modules amounting to the remaining 30 ECTS will be recognised.
    • You will be admitted on condition that you complete certain missing modules or internships during the Master’s programme so that you achieve a total of 300 ETCS with your Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
  • The additional selection criteria vary from programme to programme. These are listed in the admission regulations for the respective degree programmes.

Application documents

After registering in the HTW Berlin application portal, enter your details and upload the necessary supporting documents.

If you completed your Bachelor’s degree at HTW Berlin, the following applies to you:

  • We do not require any documents from your Bachelor’s programme at HTW Berlin.
  • If you need to upload additional documents, you will be prompted to do so in the portal. You can find out which documents these may be in the admission regulations for the Master’s degree programme.

If you obtained your Bachelor’s degree from another university, please upload all required documents to the HTW Berlin application portal.

Application in the final semester

If you have not yet completed your Bachelor’s degree, please still select “Completed first degree” as the eligibility criterion in the online application.

  • External applicants: enter your provisional average grade and the current date as the final date.
  • Applicants pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at HTW Berlin: Enter the value “4.0” instead of your preliminary average grade in the online application.

After admission and enrolment, the following deadlines apply to provide proof of successful completion of your Bachelor’s programme:

  • Study commencement in the winter semester: 20 January
  • Study commencement in the summer semester: 20 June

If no proof of the Bachelor’s degree is provided by the deadline, enrolment in the Master’s programme will be cancelled. Students at HTW Berlin will be downgraded to their Bachelor’s programme.

After successful completion of the Bachelor’s programme, a new application for the chosen Master’s programme at HTW Berlin is required.

  • Ensure good legibility and quality

Update subsequent changes

  • Change contact details: Send an email with the new data and corresponding proof (e.g. registration certificate) to the Student Service Centre at HTW Berlin. Ensure you include your application number and your chosen degree programme in the subject line.
  • Application-related changes (e.g. degree programme, study type): You must complete a new online application for these types of changes.
  • Applications that have already been submitted can no longer be processed: If you would like to change information or if you have noticed errors and your application has not yet been processed by the university, please withdraw your application. Only then can you make changes and resubmit the application within the application deadline. Your application will not be processed by the university during the withdrawal period.
