• BAföG is the most important state student grant, the level of which depends on the income of parents and students.
• Application advice and submission takes place via the Studierendenwerk Berlin.

• Student loans can be applied for during advanced studies and must be repaid.
• It is advisable to check your financial situation carefully before taking out a loan and apply for a social counselling session from the Studierendenwerk Berlin.

Students in acute financial crisis can receive support from the StudierendenWERK Berlin or from social counselling centres.
