The School of Computing, Communication and Business (Faculty 4) is appointing a
Professor (W2) | Permanent Business Computing with a focus on database systems and data engineering
We are looking for a colleague to represent and further develop business informatics in both teaching and applied research.
Your tasks
- Teaching in the Business Computing bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes
- Holding lectures on the field of expertise as well as on basic knowledge in our bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes (usually in German, English also desirable)
- Supervising theses in cooperation with local businesses and enterprises
- Scientific advancement of database systems and data engineering
- Active fundraising and implementation of third-party projects
- Strengthening the faculty’s profile
- Active participation in academic self-governance
Your profile
- University degree in informatics, or related field
- Doctoral degree (PhD) completed
- At least five years of professional experience, including a minimum of three years outside academia
- Several years of practical experience in a responsible position in the field of database systems and data engineering
- Proven ability to advance scientific and practical knowledge in the following areas of expertise:
- Data modelling and data analysis
- Development and implementation of database management systems
- Development of database-driven application systems
- Additional knowledge in one or more of the following fields of expertise is desirable:
- NoSQL databases
- Distributed databases
- Business intelligence systems or development of data pipelines
- Data science
- Machine learning
- Digital ethics or data compliance
- Proven expertise through publications in the relevant field of expertise
- Pedagogical and didactical skills proven through teaching experience
