Student assistant (m/f/d) GPU Programming in the Go!PPS Project

For our research project Go!PPS , we are looking for a Student Assistant (m/f/d) – within the research project – for “Development of GPU-based Algorithms” in the department FB4 with a working time of 10 to 20 hours per week (flexible, by arrangement).

In the research project “GPU-accelerated Optimization for Production Planning and Scheduling (Go!PPS)” at HTW Berlin, we investigate how modern graphics processors (GPUs) can be used to solve large-scale production planning and scheduling problems – in close cooperation with our industrial partner SAP SE. We are looking for a motivated student assistant to support us in the implementation, optimization, and integration of GPU-based algorithms.

Tasks

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementation and optimization of GPU-based algorithms for job scheduling
  • Performance analysis and benchmarking of GPU solutions
  • Documentation of developed components and participation in testing and evaluation
  • Collaboration with the project team and researchers, with a potential focus on industrial applications

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of parallel programming or GPU computing (e.g., CUDA)
  • Programming experience in at least one language such as C/C++ or Python
  • Interest or initial experience in optimization, production planning, or scheduling is a plus
  • Experience with Linux environments and version control (e.g., Git) is desirable
  • Good communication skills in German or English
  • Independent, structured, and proactive working style

The position is remunerated in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for student assistants (TV-Stud III-KAV).
