EUonAIR

The European University on AI in Curricula, Smart UniverCity and (Return) Mobility (EUonAIR) is a university alliance of eleven technical and business-oriented universities, including HTW Berlin. The network is complemented by more than 20 associated partners from business, research, and civil society.

Goal: To integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education, research, and work in a responsible, collaborative, and innovative way.

  • around 85,000 students
  • more than 13,400 staff
  • about 13.2 million citizens in participating regions benefit from the collaboration

EUonAIR focuses on building a sustainable and inclusive AI model that responds to the evolving needs of education and society.

EUonAIR places particular emphasis on socially relevant challenges such as mobility and migration — areas where AI holds significant transformative potential. The alliance seeks to harness this potential to develop forward-looking, fair, and sustainable solutions.

On 6 and 7 October, HTW Berlin will host the Work Package 2 meeting. We look forward to welcoming our European partner universities to our campus.

Education for Students, Staff and Community

Eight thematic work packages have been defined to implement EUonAIR’s goals. HTW Berlin leads Work Package 2: Education for Students, Staff, and Community, which focuses on developing sustainable AI education.

Key projects include:

  • Online course catalogue: A curated catalogue where students across EUonAIR universities can explore and enroll in courses.
  • Guide to AI & Ethics: A set of standards and recommendations for embedding ethical reflection on AI in higher education.
  • MyAI University: A virtual campus providing open-access digital learning materials.
  • Education strategy & study programs: A comprehensive report preparing new study programs (BSc, MSc, PhD), including course catalogues, market analyses, and sustainability strategies.

Smart and Green UniverCities

HTW Berlin plays a key role in Work Package 7: Smart and Green UniverCities, which focuses on creating the EUonAIR SmartUniverCities Lab — a hybrid learning and innovation space that offers:

  • Opportunities for students, teachers, and researchers to experiment with AI technologies
  • A strong link between science, technology, and urban transformation
  • Collaborative work on concepts for smart, sustainable European cities

From the winter semester 2025/2026, students can deepen their knowledge in the new module "AI & Smart Cities for Real Estate Management". Results and insights from the EUonAIR Lab will be documented on the HTW Smart City Lab Dashboard.
