Students gain knowledge and abilities in basic methods and tasks of system engineering. They are able to understand and analyse the taught data sets and methods and are able to sort them and put them inot perspective.
Students learn about:
- methods and techniques of system analysis
- system definition and structure
- proces of problem solving, management and optimisation.
Students are able to analyse and describe systems and design target models.
B2B and Online Marketing

Main topics:
- Online marketing and opinion formation on the Internet, Fake News.
- Online marketing and fairness of AI systems
- Auditing of AI systems, e.g. with regard to fairness.
The course takes place as a research seminar. You are expected to read the provided English-language scientific publications and be able to discuss them.

Data Mining

[W2-DM: Data Mining]
The students gain knowledge in basic methods, techniques and algorithms for data mining. They learn how to extract knowledge from raw data. They know how to apply data mining tools and understand data mining models.
Contents include:
- data mining processes, data sources
- Data Wrangling, Data Pre-Processing, Feature Engineering
- Data models: regression, classification, clustering, association
- techniques: linear and logistic regression, decision and regression trees, random forest, boosted trees, SVN
- k-NN, k-Means, Agglomerative Clustering, Frequent Item Sets, PCA
- Evaluation and cross-validation, choice of best model,
- boosting and regularization
- programming in R with RStudio and Python.
Semantic Modeling

[WT2: Semantic Modeling]
In this course we will be investigating how we can go about defining not just the syntax of a system, but its semantics, and what we can learn from manipulating semantic models. In particular, we will be contributing to the semantic modeling project Wikidata.

Please note that "AWE" have limited places, acceptance is not guaranteed.

Based on your German level you have already got you can attend a German as a Foreign Language course.
