My current research focus is on bridging the gap between theoretical security research and practical application, with a focus on corporate security and Security Operations Centers (SOC).
In the past, I have worked on the following research topics:
- Hardware and embedded security (e.g., hardware Trojans, physical unclonable functions, and IP protection)
- Attack simulation and security evaluation of network security approaches
- Applied cryptography

Werdegang
Georg Becker has been a Professor of Cyber Security at HTW Berlin since April 2026. Prior to joining HTW Berlin, he worked as a Senior Technical Product Manager for Cyber Defense at DCSO GmbH (2020–2026) and as a Senior Researcher at the industry-sponsored Digital Society Institute (DSI) Berlin (2016–2020).
He studied Applied Computer Science (B.Sc.) and IT Security (M.Sc.) at Ruhr University Bochum and received his PhD in Hardware Security from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2014. Following his PhD, he worked in the Embedded Security Lab at Ruhr University Bochum.
