After her commercial training, Andrea-Vicky Amankwaa-Birago studied Applied Cultural Studies (M.A.) at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg. After her traineeship at ZEIT STIFTUNG, she mainly volunteered in anti-discrimination work in Hamburg and later also trained as a certified anti-discrimination trainer, certified anti-discrimination consultant, and systemic coach. She worked for several years as a mentor and mentor trainer for the award-winning Hamburg projects "Young Role Models" and "YES - Young Mentors for Equality at Schools". She also worked for the "Beratungsnetzwerk gegen Rechtsextremismus Schleswig Holstein"(advisory network against right-wing extremism Schleswig Holstein) and worked for the Anti-Diskriminierungsberatung Lüneburg (diversu.e.V.) from 2020 to 2021,

Andrea-Vicky Amankwaa-Birago has been working independently as a facilitator, trainer, and consultant in the empowerment of and for women of color and diversity-oriented organizational development nationwide for over 18 years and has consulted with governmental and non-governmental organizations. She has specialized primarily in various international exchange programs in the field of development education. She has also held several teaching positions in Europe (e.g. St. Gallen, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Wolfenbüttel, Göttingen, etc.) on the topic of discrimination, memory culture, and colonial histories. In her qualification position at the HTW Berlin, she is writing her dissertation and is also connected to Anthropology at the University of Bayreuth. There Andrea-Vicky Amankwaa-Birago is part of the team "Anthropology of global inequalitites "in Bayreuth ( https://anthropologyofglobalinequalities.com/team-members-of-the-working-group/ ). Her research focuses on critically analyzing categories of difference and their political efficacy. The team investigates how dynamics of knowledge production relate to issues of (in)equality and processes of inclusion and exclusion. Social movements, migration and border regimes, economic justice, forms of racialization, and politics of belonging are among their empirical fields.
