HTW Berlin is part of FHnet, a cooperative network of universities of applied sciences that work together to position themselves strategically in relation to European research topics. The network was founded in 2015 at the initiative of the participating universities and has been funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research since 2017. The aim is to increase the visibility of universities of applied sciences in Europe and to raise more European funding for research, especially within the framework of research programmes such as "Horizon 2020".

HTW Berlin aims to complete its strategy development as part of the "EU-fit" project by 2022.
