Knowledge Transfer

HTW Berlin cultivates a broad understanding of transfer. It defines transfer as a university-wide task that encompasses various forms of cooperation in research, teaching and further education as well as the exchange of knowledge and services, technologies and people. In addition to research-based and business-oriented transfer of knowledge and technology, this also includes practice-oriented training and further education of young people in interdisciplinary study and research projects as well as "Third Mission" activities with an impact on society.

The university’s understanding of transfer reflects its commitment to democracy, sustainability, ethical entrepreneurship and gender equality, as set out in its Mission Statement. It is also geared towards the development clusters of the State of Berlin.

HTW Berlin has defined three strategic fields of action in its transfer strategy:

  • Increase visibility and strengthen transfer skills
  • Create innovative transfer opportunities
  • Expand engagement for the district and city

Over the next few years, HTW Berlin will develop its transfer activities on the basis of these fields of action. In doing so, importance will be attached to continuously refining existing indicators for monitoring success. The university’s transfer strategy was approved by the Board of Trustees of HTW Berlin in 2020.
