The Supply of ICT Skills in Britain and Germany - How Companies Adapt and React

Forschungsprojekt

The aim of this study is to analyse and to assess the contrasting national strategies of ICT skill supply in Britain and Germany, to examine the impact on firms and to assess the usefulness to companies of skills at different qualification levels. Policy implications for change in publicly-financed ICT skill supply strategies will be drawn from this analysis. In order to examine the impact of skill supply policy on firms, around 90 firms in Britain and Germany were interviewed. These were selected at random from trade literature and the internet in a total of four sectors, financial services, retailing, motor manufacture and software development.
