Oximetry-based intra-Operative monitoring of Cerebral Auto-REgulation and pain (OxiOpCARE)

Forschungsprojekt

The project investigates the use of multimodal neuromonitoring—including near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD), electroencephalography (EEG), and high-density diffuse optical tomography (HD-DOT)—for intraoperative assessment of cerebral blood flow dynamics.

Dr. Schmitz’s subproject focuses on the development of HD-DOT probe holders and headgear that can be integrated with the other monitoring modalities, particularly TCD, as well as on the incorporation of a DOT-based total oximetry sensor. The integrated sensor system will be evaluated in a study involving healthy volunteers, serving as a preparatory step for subsequent patient studies.
