Whether you have to apply directly to HTW Berlin or via uni-assist depends on your nationality and where you obtained your higher education entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur, Bachelor's degree).
You apply directly to HTW Berlin if one of these requirements applies to you:
- You have a German university entrance qualification (e.g. German Abitur, Fachhochschulreife).
- You are a German citizen or a citizen of an EU or EEA country.
- You want to change your degree programme within HTW Berlin.
- You are applying for the 2nd or a higher semester.
- You have successfully completed a preparatory course in Germany.
- You would like to apply for a degree programme without admission restrictions, a degree programme with an aptitude test, a part-time Bachelor's degree programme or a German-language continuing education Master's degree programme.
- Applications are made via the HTW Berlin application portal. For Bachelor's degree programmes with restricted admission, you must also register with Hochschulstart.
You apply via uni-assist if you fulfil both requirements:
- You are not a citizen of an EU or EEA country.
- You have obtained your higher education entrance qualification or your first academic degree outside Germany.
uni-assist checks whether your foreign certificates are recognised for studying in Germany and converts your grades to the German system. The application via uni-assist is subject to a fee.
